Hello fencers,

A belated happy new year to you all. DDS is back in full swing, with some changes to the running of our classes that we hope will improve the experience for everyone.

We are currently planning our first social of the year for later in the month, probably Burns related. Jump on our Discord to see what we come up with.

Beginners Night and Fight Night

The first Tuesday of the month is will now be our beginners and fundamentals night. Free to new fencers, these are intended to give a clearer entry-point for new arrivals. This will also allow the rest of our evenings to focus a little more on more complex matter.

The last Tuesday of the month will be Fight Night, with a strong focus on sparring, freeplay games, and getting comfortable with scored bouts and judging.

New Year, New Membership

Membership for the new year is now due. We are also introducing the option of a monthly subscription to pay for your classes. Further details on these and a few other small changes can be read on our website here.

Some swords are Greater than Others

The Friday greatsword study group continues to thrive, with the arrival of Alyson’s monster sword! It makes my own one feel light and dainty. If you thought your form needed to be good with the smaller greatsword the larger one demands perfection.
